Welcome to Like the Tomato.

My name is Roma. No – I am not kidding. And no – it is not short for another name. My parents named me Roma. The classic “let’s combine our names to be our child’s name” thinking. I started introducing myself as “Roma like the tomato” after I realized people tend to remember my name when I introduce myself that way. You have no idea how many times I had to correct people when they call me Ramona or something else. It became a habit on my end. And also, a friend started calling me Tomato. And I liked it.

For fourteen years or so of my life, I’ve been working in a lab. I liked it enough, I enjoyed the pace of the environment. However, at the end of the day, I don’t see myself being a lab. I often thought that I’d be working in an office – and I still do – so I am working on it.

I have a pretty diverse educational background. I have a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and Biology and a Master’s Degree in Data Science. I was never that person who had a one-track in mind, I like variety and I like learning different things – hence totally unrelated stuff.

I’ve had this site for a while now and I struggled to find a niche. I originally intended to have this site focus on books and food, but that didn’t work out too well in my favor. I have way too many interests to focus on just those two. So, I decided to try something new. I decided to use this as an outlet – maybe do some daily logs and go from there, discuss what I enjoyed, what I was reading, and so on. You get the idea. So please feel free and leave me some feedback. This is a work in progress project.
